Matt's uprising stardom coincided with the name and identity change to a historic Hebrew rebirth. He evolved into the musician and Orthodox Jew known as Matisyahu. This Orthodox instant sensation, took an unorthodox passageway to get to the top. He defied convention and examined a higher power which electrified his spirit. His name and words make an impact on our collective consciousness everyday. During high school, Matt made a sojourn to Israel; in this trip a deeper more profound search was stirring. He removed himself from high school and wandered with dreams and broken wings. The future is seldom promising for any high school dropout, but a decision to attend Northstar Center in Bend, Oregon to complete his schooling proved to be wise medicine. Matt worked out personal issues in a nurturing environment through therapy. He honed creative talents and discovered some new skills Matt didn't know he possessed and his wings began to flap. At an early age he faced issues of coping mechanisms changing into addictions. He developed an understanding of the effects of chemicals in any spiritual journey and avoided these rituals to further circumvent his religious development. His shows at local Bend hangout Café Paradiso consisted of spontaneous freestyles that often incorporated the listeners into his impromptu work. He would drape himself in the Israeli flag on stage and hammer out rap of Olympic voracity facing an undersized audience. While maturing personally and musically, after graduating Northstar he made the decision to attend Yeshiva University and met his wife Tahlia. His focus turned from adolescent growth in music to adult responsibility inside a family belief system. His star has risen almost as quickly as he can rap words; in 2006 he was nominated for a Grammy. Matisyahu's aura is propelled by his humbleness and candidness in the numerous interviews he has granted to the various media outlets. He told one such interviewer when asked, "Did you ever think that you would have accomplished so much in the amount of time you've been an active artist?" Matisyahu simple but telltale reply was "I was hoping to win the Grammy." This reflects that this aviating bird has sights set on piloting us above the present horizon. Matisyahu was born with the right map, but had to learn how to navigate his inner compass south to north. This man of conviction catapults us up to higher ground in our own voyage through life. He has seen the dark and light sides of this existence in shady areas and found a disciplined path to pursue. His beard and legend lengthened by the time he made his home in Crown Heights. This eclectic Brooklyn, New York neighborhood is a prophetic place to raise a family. Tahlia and Matisyahu Miller parent two boys. The Jewish community revels in his enormous gift and celebrates his flair. A junior linguist may say a New York accent is easier to ascertain than Reggae dialect growing up in White Plaines, NY. Matisyahu will find an appropriate expression, even if he doesn't need the Rasta pseudonym anymore. Scripture, and American east coast apple's can attest-it really is the part bitten that poisons. His graceful prosaic elegies are silhouetted from Miller’s ear for talent including Bob Marley, Phish, and the Grateful Dead. His origin of ideals connected lyrics focused on the return to Zion in reggae to images conjured in Judaism and his enlightened beliefs. Matisyahu tours religiously and religion comes first while not performing on Sabbath. Matisyahu states that a personal musical career highlight was when he reverse solicited Trey Anastasio (lead singer of one of his favorite bands Phish) to join him on stage. This is reflective of Miller’s serenely joyful affectionate personality which peers want to latch onto. He makes himself accessible to his own fans, an affect of good karma. His sound is refreshingly bright on often dim subjects for his community. His lyrics make us feel emotions we didn't know were possible. The lineage of connotation can be traced back to his love of the Torah: "Jerusalem, if I forget you, let my right hand forget what it's supposed to do" is a phrase from the song aptly titled "Jerusalem" from his "Youth" album. Matisyahu vocalizes centuries of hardship occurring with ancestors surviving the holocaust and understanding the role of the victim in a contemporary place. If Matisyahu ever fails to remember Babylon, not all is lost because he possesses the ingenuity to convert from right to left.

People who have found this link

I am not sure yet how this site will be rebuilt.
